"Eat
My Dust". The E.M.D. 9 should give you all the weaponry you need,
so you can turn to your riding buddies and say this with total confidence.
The E.M.D. 9 is the newest member of the Niner family, building on
our commitment to make the best, most versatile line of 29" wheel
mountain bikes in existence.
The
E.M.D. 9 started life as a custom butted 7005 series aluminum tubeset
built to Niner's specifications. From there, Niner poured their
knowledge and passion into every ounce of this frame (and there
aren't very many of those ounces to pour over). Chainstays and seatstays
received new proprietary bends to increase tire clearance while
maintaining heal clearance. Every tube is size specific to insure
proper ride quality throughout the size range. The attention to
detail that has become synonymous with Niner is present on every
bit of this frame. Even though this is a less expensive frame, we
did not cut any corners with our quality. The E.M.D. 9 features
an internally butted head tube and BB shell to shave weight and
a reamed and faced head tube and BB to insure proper alignment of
headset and bottom bracket cups. The threads on the BB shell have
been chased post welding to insure easy BB installation and the
disc brake tab has been machined post weld to insure proper disc
brake alignment. The E.M.D. 9 is the first frame in our line that
will receive our proprietary bent downtube which tested much stronger
than using a gusset while still maintaining the clearance necessary
for some fork crowns. In addition, the E.M.D. 9 uses our race tested
and confidence inspiring Niner geometry which works flawlessly with
either an 80mm or 100mm suspension fork, or our truly suspension
corrected rigid fork.
And
at 3.5 lbs. for a medium frame, the E.M.D. 9 is super light and
race worthy. The s-bend rear stays make for a comfy and compliant
ride giving the E.M.D. 9 an advantage on all day epics or 24 hour
races as well. So if you're looking for a geared only, do everything
frame, look to the E.M.D. 9 to exceed your expectations. The best
part, the frame is only $499.
