The
E.M.D. 9 is not your ordinary 7005 series aluminum frame. Everything
here was custom drawn for Niner bikes to have the best ride quality
a frame could offer from this material. Every butt, every length,
and every bend was designed by Niner for Niner and the E.M.D. 9
is the result of everything we've learned from our experience thus
far.
We understand that
most alloy frames are considered harsh and overly stiff. We set
out to disprove that misconception with the E.M.D. 9. Our proprietary
rear triangle tubeset offers an incredible amount of vertical
compliance while still being laterally stiff. Brand new S-Bend
chainstays and seatstays keep the heels clear of the tubes and
offer increased mud clearance for those larger 29er tires.
After working closely
with Easton on the tubeset for our critically acclaimed One 9
and our brand new geared Easton Scandium frame, the Air 9, we
applied some of the same concepts from those frames into the new
E.M.D. 9, but at a more affordable price. Namely, the bent downtube
and construction techniques that increase strength at the head
tube without the use of gussets. Our E.M.D. 9 has a proprietary
downtube designed by Niner to be both stronger and offer clearance
for all current fork crowns on the market. Weight has been shaved
from every tube and internal butting is custom on every size to
insure proper ride characteristics throughout the size run.
Even though the E.M.D.
9 is a less expensive frame, Niner did not cut any corners. The
E.M.D. 9 still has an internally butted head tube and BB shell
and the finish of the frame is standard Niner quality making the
E.M.D. 9 one of the best values on the market.
